The third official VICTORIA FALLS MARATHON will be organised by Adventure Zone (previously named Safari Par
Excellence), Wild Horizons, and Wild Frontiers (Pty) Ltd
and National Athletics Association of Zimbabwe, and will take place on 29 August 2010, in Zimbabwe.

THE ROUTE
The race has been measured at 42.2 km, a standard marathon, as well as the 21.km half marathon and a 5Km fun run,
all are being run on predominantly tarmac roads.The race route has been measured by an IAAF representative. For

The organisers reserve the right to modify any part of the route as a result of circumstances beyond its’
control.
Water points will be provided along the route at clearly marked areas approx 4km apart. These will provide liquid
refreshments, with some offering water for sponging.
START VENUE & TIMINGS

Marathon - 42.2km - 06h30
The race will start near the Banks (car park) area opposite KINGDOM HOTEL, Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.
All runners must wear their running bib, clearly, on the front (not back). Do not fold your race number. Pins will
be provided.
Cut off time for the race will be
12h30. The first 150 finishers will receive a medal and t-shirt.
21.2km - 07h00
The race will start near the Banks (car park) area opposite KINGDOM HOTEL, Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.
All runners must wear their running bib, clearly, on the front (not back). Do not fold your race number.
Pins will be provided. Cut off time for the race will be 12h30. The first 400 finishers will receive a medal and
t-shirt.
5km Fun Run - 07h15
The race will start near the Banks (car park) area opposite KINGDOM HOTEL, Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, and finish
at the Victoria Falls Primary school on the Kaz Road.
FINISH
The finish of the marathon and half marathon will be at The Victoria Falls Primary Schools field and Stadium.
Tog bags will be transported there by 09h00.
TOG BAG AREA
Tog bag area will be provided, if you plan to use this facility allow ample time - note that the tog bags
will be transported to the stadium by 09h00. This will be set up close to the start, in the Kingdom Car Park. This
will be set up close to the start line - look out for the trailer and signage.
ENTRY CONDITIONS
Marathon (42.2km)
The competition is open to persons 21 years and over.
Medals will be awarded to all finishers under five and half hours.
Half Marathon (21.1 km)
The competition is open to persons of 18 years and over.
Medals will be awarded to all finishers under three and half hours.
Fun Run (5km)
The competition is open to persons of 10 years and over.
No prizes or medals available.
The marathon is being run under the auspices of the National Athletics Association of Zimbabwe, and this event
will be governed by the rules of the IAAF.

through a package or
local entries.

All pre-registered entrants MUST STILL COME TO THE KINGDOM HOTEL, REGISTRATION,
to collect race numbers and check all details are correct.
* NO ENTRIES ALLOWED ON RACE DAY.
IMPORTANT: you MUST BRING your PASSPORT, or Zimbabweans may bring
their ID Document to registration.
Prize giving
Prize giving will follow directly after race closes at 12h30 at Victoria Falls Primary School.

SECONDING
No mobile seconding of any description will be allowed on the route. Runners are allowed seconding within a distance
of 100m either side of the official refreshment stations ONLY.
Aid stations will be withdrawn from the route after a relative time calculated on the cut-off.
Medic personnel will be at the finish stadium and roaming the route.
RULES
The race is being run under the rules of IAAF and NAAZ.
All traffic officials must be obeyed.
The organisers reserve the right to accept or reject any entry.
The entry fee is non refundable
No advertising or branding on athletes will be allowed, other than the official race bib, and athletes may run
in their official club colours.
INDEMNITY
I agree not to hold the race organisers as above, any sponsors, or any persons assisting in the organisation
of the three races, liable for any injury or illness, which I may suffer directly or indirectly as a result of
participating in the race, or for any damage to my property or loss of my property, which I may suffer directly
or indirectly as a result of participating in the race. I confirm that this agreement is entered into for the benefit
of the Victoria Falls Marathon and its organisers, the sponsors and persons assisting in the organisation of these
races.
